| Tenure with Crosland: Since 1985 Professional Experience As Development Manager, Roger is responsible for developing luxury and affordable apartment projects. Key tasks in this process include site acquisition, feasibility studies, managing and retaining design professionals, obtaining project financing, gaining entitlements and regulatory approvals, as well as supervising general contractor activities during project construction and providing oversight of initial lease-up.
During his service at Crosland, Roger has developed dozens of projects including luxury suburban rentals with conventional mortgage financing, specialty housing for seniors, and about 20 affordable properties utilizing low income housing tax credits in combination with HOPE VI funds, capital from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta, and other forms of soft debt. A number of his market rate and affordable apartments have won national and state awards for excellence including multiple Pillars of the Industry awards, Housing North Carolina awards, and a Fannie Mae Maxwell award, among others.
Prior to joining Crosland, Roger held professional and management positions with Union Camp Corporation in Wayne, NJ, Chicago, IL, and Savannah, GA, that included budget analyst, real estate asset manager, marketing manager and golf community general manager. He also has worked as an independent real estate broker at Investment Real Estate, Inc. in Savannah, GA, and as a developer of vacation condominium projects for U.S. Capital Corporation in Columbia, SC.
