Tenure with Crosland: Since 2004 Professional Experience As Vice President of the Retail division, James Downs is responsible for generating new retail and mixed-use development opportunities within North Carolina and the Commonwealth of Virginia. This includes site selection for new development, anchor tenant procurement and collaboration with Crosland’s other divisions. James began his career with Charlotte-based Aston Properties, Inc. serving as a member of the company’s retail leasing and development team. Prior to joining Crosland, James was Regional Director of Leasing for Ronus Properties, LLC where he was responsible for repositioning a portfolio of shopping centers consisting of 2.1 million square feet. Previously, James was Director of Leasing for Atlanta-based Carter New Market (CNM) successfully developing and implementing a leasing strategy for both institutional and private ownership entities.
