Crosland Recognized For Excellence By The Consulting Engineers Council of North CarolinaCharlotte, October 29, 2001 -
Charlotte-based Crosland, one of the Southeast’s leading diversified real estate
companies, has been awarded the 2001 Client Recognition Award
by the Consulting Engineers Council of North Carolina. The award is
presented annually to acknowledge clients of consulting engineers that
demonstrate “outstanding performance in the promotion and practice of
partnering between client, engineer and contractor.”
Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. nominated Crosland for the award based on their
partnership experience while working on the Whitehall development in
southwest Charlotte. “We feel that Crosland understands the value we
bring to a project and they show nothing but respect for what we have
to offer,” said Steve Blakley, Whitehall project manager for Kimley-Horn.
“There was a relationship and a base of trust that allowed us to move
forward successfully on our project.”
With 3.2 million square feet of commercial space, 500,000 square feet of retail and
1,600 multi-family units, Whitehall is located near Charlotte/Douglas
International Airport. It offers a variety of suburban
office/industrial space and is home to such major corporate
headquarters as CADMUS, Sprint and Time Warner, the last of which
Crosland recently developed.

“We are extremely grateful to be recognized in this fashion,” said Jim Merrifield,
president of Crosland’s office and industrial division. “Open
collaboration with all of our partners has been a focal point for
Crosland for over 64 years. Paying attention to this aspect of our
business has further enhanced our relationships with firms like Kimley-Horn.”
