Denon Williams Joins Crosland’s Raleigh Office as VP of Construction

Denon Williams' New Position Supports Company’s Expansion Plans Throughout Southeast

New Position Supports Company’s Expansion Plans Throughout Southeast

Charlotte, N.C., Feb. 14, 2005 – Crosland Inc., one of the Southeast’s leading real estate companies, has hired Denon Williams as vice president of construction for the company’s contracting division. Williams previously served as director of construction for Virginia-based HHHunt, where he launched and managed construction teams for that company’s assisted living and multifamily operations.

Williams will work out of Crosland’s Raleigh office and report to Gregg Hendershot, president of the contracting division.
The position is a new one for Crosland, created to support the company’s expansion throughout the Southeast. His primary role will be to collaborate with Crosland’s other divisions on new and existing mixed-use developments and apartment communities. Additionally, Williams will identify contracting opportunities outside the Crosland organization.

“Denon’s extensive knowledge of the Southeast market and his experience forming teams for new projects will be vital to Crosland as we grow,” said Hendershot. “Crosland is embarking on a number of new multifamily developments throughout the Triangle and eastern North Carolina, and will soon expand into other markets such as Virginia.”

Williams is already managing the final construction phase of Crosland’s Oberlin Court, a gated mixed-use community offering luxury apartments, specialty shops and office space on Wade Avenue near the heart of downtown Raleigh. Williams will also oversee innovative projects like Southpoint Village, a mixed-use community in Durham that Crosland recently started. Incorporating luxury apartment homes, townhomes and 20,000 square feet of retail, Southpoint Village will be highlighted by a distinctive 3.5-story clubhouse featuring an entertainment room, business and media center, exercise facility and resident lounge. Crosland has over 1,259 multi-family units proposed in the Triangle, which represents 30% of all proposed projects.

“This opportunity piqued my interest because I was very familiar with Crosland’s work and impressed with the company’s innovative and aggressive approach,” said Williams. “The challenges I encountered at HHHunt parallel what lies ahead for me at Crosland as this organization grows, and I look forward to these new opportunities.”

During his 10-year tenure at HHHunt, Williams formed and managed construction teams consisting of approximately 20 people for a variety of assisted living and multifamily developments throughout the Carolinas, Tennessee and Virginia. He established the company’s in-house construction team for HHHunt Senior Living, which provided assisted living communities for seniors that were a fraction of the cost of nursing home facilities. His leadership earned him the company’s employee of the year award, for which he was selected from among 1,300 fellow employees.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Williams began his career at Calibre Company, a multifamily construction company, then founded his own custom homebuilding company, which he ran for seven years. He built homes in Raleigh, Cary and the Wake Forest area, and was recognized by the Parade of Homes with both gold and silver awards for superior quality work.
