| | | Crosland’s Town Center Plaza Completes $7 Million RenovationLarger Harris Teeter, Fitness Center and Specialty Shops to Open Charlotte, N.C., Aug. 24, 2005 – Town Center Plaza, one of Charlotte’s original University area shopping centers located at Highway 49 and W.T. Harris Boulevard, has recently completed a $7 million renovation, relocating the Harris Teeter grocery store into a new expanded 50,000 square foot space, and adding an extra 15,000 square feet of retail specialty shops.
By extending its overall square footage, the new Harris Teeter will allow for an expanded variety of merchandise. Harris Teeter will reopen to the public on Wednesday, August 30th.
Lifestyle Family Fitness (35,744 square feet), a national fitness chain from St. Petersburg, Florida, with 37 locations in Florida & Ohio, will open for business in early 2007. Lifestyle Fitness joins the list of distinguished center anchors including Eckerd’s, O’Charley’s and Harris Teeter. The fitness center will offer month-to-month membership options, the latest in fitness equipment and programs, club amenities and professional, credentialed and service-oriented team members. In addition, Lifestyle Family Fitness offers with each membership personal training and group fitness.
Also joining the tenant mix at Town Center Plaza are Great Clips and Beverly Nail Spa, while Jackson’s Java & Cold Mountain Creamery will expand their space and offerings. All three stores will open later this year.
“We are pleased to revive this popular center with a new look and greater variety of shops and services,” said Ryan Preston, director of leasing for Crosland. “Because the center was originally built in 1984, it was time to update the look and offerings to meet the demand of the ever-changing and growing University area.”
A brand-leader in the value-priced, walk-in, hair care salon concept, Great Clips (1,229 square feet) will open another area location at Town Center. Services offered will include adult and children’s haircuts, perms, shampoos and conditioning treatments. Also offering beauty services, Beverly Nails (1,302 square feet), a full-service nail salon, will provide pedicures, manicures and acrylic services. Both salons will be open seven days-a-week with no appointment necessary.
Expanding its current facility in Town Center is the area’s independent and popular beverage hot spot, Jackson’s Java & Cold Mountain Creamery (2,600 square feet). Jackson’s will offer hot or cold coffee and tea and even alcoholic beverages and desserts. Hours of operation will be Sunday through Thursday, 7am-11pm, Friday and Saturday 7am-12am, with live music playing seasonally.
In addition to the new stores and services, customers of Town Center Plaza will enjoy updated landscaping and lighting, as well as hardscape areas for outdoor seating, dining and relaxing.
