Crosland to Develop Neighborhood Shopping Center in Polk County

POLK COUNTY, Fla., Jan. 7, 2008 – Crosland LLC, one of the Southeast’s leading diversified real estate firms, has announced plans to develop Davenport Marketplace, an 11.23-acre neighborhood shopping center located at US-27 and County Road 547 in Davenport, Fla.

Anchored by a 38,144-square-foot Sweetbay Supermarket, Davenport Marketplace will also include 16,000-square-feet of specially shops and three outparcels for businesses such as banks or restaurants.

“Davenport Marketplace is designed to fill the niche for a neighborhood shopping center that can meet the needs of this high-growth area,” said Mike Wiggins, senior vice president with Crosland’s Retail Division. “Strategically located in North Polk County, this development will serve as a hub to connect neighborhoods with value-added retail options.”

Located in the growing area of the US-27 corridor, this neighborhood shopping center will serve approximately 13,000 residents. Construction is expected to begin in June 2008, with Sweetbay Supermarket expected to open in July 2009.

“This marketplace will serve as a much needed addition to the residents of Davenport,” said Warren McKnight, president of Holly Fruit Products Co., and a partner in the project. “A strongly anchored neighborhood shopping center is essential to sustain the community’s future growth.”

Sweetbay Supermarkets combine passion, knowledge and excitement with outstanding quality, value and variety to offer a one-of-a-kind shopping experience to Floridians. The store will offer fresh-picked produce, top-quality meats, diverse ethnic offerings, oven-fresh baked goods, an expansive deli selection and well-stocked grocery aisles.
