Longleaf Ranked Among the Nation's Top 10 New Urbanism Communities

Pasco Fla., Oct. 15, 2008 – Crosland LLC, one of the Southeast’s leading diversified real estate firms announced today that Longleaf, Pasco County’s only certified “Green Development,” was ranked No. 2 on NewUrbanMom.com’s second annual list of the Top 10 New Urbanism Communities.

The list ranks the top 10 eco-friendly, diversified and affordable smart-growth neighborhoods, new or redeveloped, both in city centers and in the suburbs. Florida was the only state to have two developments make the list.

"Longleaf was chosen because of its comprehensive focus not only on design, but on the elements that create a real sense of community,” said Sharon McMillan, publisher of NewUrbanMom.com. “From offering residents a real town "center" to providing a good mix of residential housing choices, Longleaf is a community for our times.”

The top-10 list reflects the decisions and perspectives of women who support the eco-friendly philosophy of new urbanism. Communities selected are ones that contribute to the development of safe and sustainable neighborhoods for children, working adults, seniors and the environment.

Longleaf, a traditional neighborhood development, features a mixture of neo-traditional single-family homes, townhomes, apartments, an “A” rated elementary school, retail and recreation.

Longleaf has received several high-profile environmental awards including becoming a Florida Green Building Coalition certified “Green Development," a Grand Aurora Award for Green Construction from the Southeast Building Conference and one of only three Outstanding Florida-Friendly Community Awards from the Florida Yards & Neighborhoods program for its commitment to the environment.
